First Sunrise

This morning I saw the sunrise for the first time in a very long time. This in spite of my being out and about at the same time on a daily basis, but today I noticed the absolute beauty and glory of the sunrise and the dawn glow of the Tucson Mountains and the gathering clouds at the crest of the Catalinas.

Noticing this, which repeats each morning, alarmed me of how mindlessly I operate in my program of the rat race.

Today’s sunrise prompts me to live mindfully and to live outside the program. To be present in everything I’m privileged to be exposed to experience. To set a new program for myself. One in which I wake to see and appreciate each sunrise as if it were the first…. and the final one.
